Intaba Amari Fund

Investing to alleviate socio-economic challenges through sustainable investments for all stakeholders

Intaba was founded in 2019 with a vision of raising an impact-focussed fund with a purpose of alleviating Africa's socio-economic challenges. The Fund is developed with the belief that a fund can generate both attractive financial returns for investors (target gross IRR > 20%) whilst simultaneously generating a positive social impact, as the two do not have to be mutually exclusive.

The Amari Fund’s strategy is to invest in 10 women-owned businesses (where at least 50% of the founders are women) in Sub-Saharan Africa, looking for growth capital and active hands-on support. The investments will span across business stages from Seed to established and profitable businesses, diversifying risk of early-stage investing for investors.

All investments need to meet at least one impact theme, namely 1) create jobs or improve livelihoods, 2) climate change solutions, 3) improve access to education and/or 4) improve access to healthcare.
